Dr. Jafar Golzarian is an internationally recognized interventional radiologist with decades of experience advancing minimally invasive, image-guided therapies. He earned his medical degree magna cum laude from the University of Brussels School of Medicine in Belgium, where he also completed his radiology residency at Erasme Hospital. He went on to complete advanced fellowship training in interventional radiology, building a strong foundation in complex vascular and oncologic procedures.

Dr. Golzarian is board-certified in interventional radiology and is licensed to practice medicine in Minnesota. He currently serves as a Professor of Interventional Radiology at the University of Minnesota Medical School, where his clinical innovation has helped shape modern patient care. Notably, he was the first physician in the United States to perform prostate artery embolization (PAE) and among the early pioneers of uterine fibroid embolization (UFE)—procedures that have transformed treatment options for thousands of patients.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Golzarian is widely regarded as a thought leader in interventional radiology. He has authored over 170 peer-reviewed publications, delivered more than 400 national and international lectures, and founded major educational initiatives in the field, including the Global Embolization Symposium and Technologies (GEST). His expertise spans peripheral vascular disease, interventional oncology, and embolization-based therapies.

Through his academic leadership, research, and patient-centered approach, Dr. Golzarian continues to advance the field of interventional radiology while expanding access to effective, less invasive treatment options worldwide.
